whoeverdoesn’thave,fromhimwillbetakenawayeventhatwhich
hehas.13.13ThereforeIspeaktotheminparables,becauseseeingthey
don’tsee,andhearing,theydon’thear,neitherdotheyunderstand.13.14
InthemtheprophecyofIsaiahisfulfilled,whichsays,
‘Byhearingyouwillhear,
andwillinnowayunderstand;
Seeingyouwillsee,
andwillinnowayperceive:
13.15forthispeople’shearthasgrowncallous,
theirearsaredullofhearing,
theyhaveclosedtheireyes;
orelseperhapstheymightperceivewiththeireyes,
hearwiththeirears,
understandwiththeirheart,
andwouldturnagain;
andIwouldhealthem.’
13.16“Butblessedareyoureyes,fortheysee;andyourears,forthey
hear.13.17FormostcertainlyItellyouthatmanyprophetsandrighteous
mendesiredtoseethethingswhichyousee,anddidn’tseethem;and
tohearthethingswhichyouhear,anddidn’thearthem.
13.18“Hear,then,theparableofthefarmer.13.19Whenanyonehearsthe
wordoftheKingdom,anddoesn’tunderstandit,theevilonecomes,
andsnatchesawaythatwhichhasbeensowninhisheart.Thisiswhat
wassownbytheroadside.13.20Whatwassownontherockyplaces,this
ishewhohearstheword,andimmediatelywithjoyreceivesit;13.21yet
hehasnorootinhimself,butenduresforawhile.Whenoppression
orpersecutionarisesbecauseoftheword,immediatelyhestumbles.
13.22Whatwassownamongthethorns,thisishewhohearstheword,
butthecaresofthisageandthedeceitfulnessofricheschoketheword,
andhebecomesunfruitful.13.23Whatwassownonthegoodground,
thisishewhohearstheword,andunderstandsit,whomostcertainly
bearsfruit,andproduces,someonehundredtimesasmuch,some
