fightingnowadaysinsomepartsoftheworld,suchasSoutheastAsia.Itwill
beelaboratedonlaterinthispaper.
InreferencetoScandinaviansandtheirinterestinhorse-fights,itisalso
worthmentioningthepaganandreligiouspastoftheVikings.MaeveSikora
describestheroleofthehorseinfertilitycultanditsassociationwithFreya.

NorwaytoIceland,wherethisentertainmentevolved,withtheNorwegian
emigrantswhosettledontheisland

firstlawsofNorwegianswhichprovideinformationaboutthesporthadbeen
