Theideaofinternationalizationofuniversityeducationisconstantlycon-
sideredasanimportantissueininstitutionalstrategicdevelopmentofhighered-
ucationinstitutions.Although,academicsandhighereducationmanagersare
fascinatedbythee-learningsystems,ErasmusInternationalWeekeducational
eventsareabletoprovideidiosyncraticeducationalresults.Thiseducationalap-
proachistheprocessofintegratinganinternationaldimensionintotheresearch,
teachingandservicesfunctionsofhighereducation.Themostimportantas-
sumption,whentalkingaboutinternationalization,isthatitisidentifiedwith
mobilityofteachingstaff.Therefore,internationalizationconcernsactivitiesfar
away.Ithappensmoreorlessasanextra-curricularactivity,supplementingthe
establisheduniversitycourses,accordingtotheplannedcurricula.

understanding.Thecontextofinternationalizationofeducationconsistsofmany
factors.Themostimportantofthesecontextualfactorsaregovernmentalandin-
ternationalpolicies,theprocessofglobalisationineducation,andthechanged
educationalenvironmentbroughtbytheITrevolution.Robustcompetitiveness,
sustainabledevelopmentanddemocraticcapitalismarecentraltothecontempo-
raryphilosophiesandobjectives.
