academia.Theexistingjournal,StudiesinSecondLanguageLearningand
TeachingpublishedbyAdamMickiewiczUniversity(Kalisz-Poznań),em-
phasizestheroleofclassroom-orientedresearchandsoitsparticularfocus
complementsthenewjournalbypresentingforeignlanguagepedagogyand
itsclassroomapplications.Theoriginsofourjournalalsolieinthesuccess
oftheInternationalConferenceonSecond/ForeignLanguageAcquisition
whichhasbeenorganizedforalmostthirtyyearsbytheInstituteofEnglish
attheUniversityofSilesia.ItgatherstogethereachyearmanyPolishand
foreignacademicsandfocusesonoftenun-researchedissuesandfairlynew
trendsinSLA.Papersfallingwithintheleadingthemeofeachconference
areusuallyeditedandpublishedintheformofamonograph,butthereare
alsomanystudiespresentedinresearchareasnotdirectlyrelatedtothemain
theme.Sincemanyoftheseareofahighacademicstandard,wewouldlike
toopenachannelfortheirpublication,alongsideotheroriginalarticlesand
submissions.Webelievethatournewjournalwillserveanimportantneed
inprojectingnewandinterestingresearchinSLA.
Thisjournalwillbepublishedbi-annuallyandwillconsistofarticles
submittedtousdirectlyorsolicited(byinvitation).Eachtextwillbepeer-
reviewedinadoubleblindreferringprocessbyrefereesoftheEditorial
Boardandbeyond.TheEditorialBoardconsistsofbothPolishscholars
andforeignexpertsinthearea,andrepresentsthewiderangeofresearch
interestsofitsmembers.Allupdatedinformationonthejournalwillbe
