academia.Theexistingjournal,StudiesinSecondLanguageLearningand
TeachingpublishedbyAdamMickiewiczUniversity(Kalisz-Poznań),em-
phasizestheroleofclassroom-orientedresearchandsoitsparticularfocus
complementsthenewjournalbypresentingforeignlanguagepedagogyand
itsclassroomapplications.Theoriginsofourjournalalsolieinthesuccess
oftheInternationalConferenceonSecond/ForeignLanguageAcquisition
thathasbeenorganizedforalmostthirtyyearsbytheInstituteofEnglish
attheUniversityofSilesia.ItgatherstogethereachyearmanyPolishand
foreignacademicsandfocusesonoftenun-researchedissuesandfairlynew
trendsinSLA.Papersfallingwithintheleadingthemeofeachconference
areusuallyeditedandpublishedintheformofamonograph,butthereare
alsomanystudiespresentedinresearchareasnotdirectlyrelatedtothemain
theme.Sincemanyoftheseareofahighacademicstandard,wewouldlike
toopenachannelfortheirpublication,alongsideotheroriginalarticlesand
submissions.Webelievethatournewjournalwillserveanimportantneed
inprojectingnewandinterestingresearchinSLA.
Thisisthesecondissueofourjournal,whichispublishedbi-annuallyand
consistsofarticlessubmittedtousdirectlyorsolicited(byinvitation).Eachtext
ispeer-reviewedinadoubleblindreferringprocessbyrefereesoftheEditorial
Boardandbeyond.TheEditorialBoardconsistsofbothPolishscholarsand
foreignexpertsinthearea,andrepresentsthewiderangeofresearchinterests
ofitsmembers.Allupdatedinformationonthejournalisavailableonitsnew
