Familyhasbeendispersed.Neighbourhoodinstitutionwanedinfavourofanony-
mityinlargesettlementsorisolationofpeopleintheirownhouses.Peoplewere
givenpreviouslyunknownopportunitiestobreakawayfromthelocalarea,both
inthespiritualsense(themedia)andphysical(modernmeansofcommunication,
holiday,tradeorforeigntravels,etc.).Previousbalancehasbeendisrupted,tradi-
tionaltiesbetweenpeopleandrelationshipsbetweenpeopleandterritoryhavebeen
broken.Atthesametime,therewasaneedtoredefinerelationshiptotheterritory;
andthereasonsforthisareboth,thegeneralhumannature:theneedforselectionof
individuality,whetherpersonalorinthesocialscale-neighbourhood,city,region,
andthecountry.
Togetherwiththerenaissanceofregionalismitshouldbementionedtheimpact
ofglobalizationonlocalsocietywithinspecificculturalandnationalcontexts.This
processcould,thus,bemulti-faceted.Manyscholars[Hegde2005;Thussu1998,
2007;Hafez2007]analysingtoday’smarkettrendsnoticethattheglobalconcernsif
theywanttoachievethemarketmustbeawareoflocalneedsandtheymustadjust
theirproductstothelocalcontext.Moreover,itisseenthatlocality,yearbyyear,is
perceivedasoneofthemostimportantfactorsofglobaleconomy.Itcouldbeseen
theprocessofmutualcooperationonthelocal,thenationalandthegloballevel.The
processofstrengtheningboththelocalandtheglobalcanbeseeninmorecountries
eachyear.Thistendencyallowsscholarstohopethatglobalization,characterized
bymultiplyingaudience,doesnotnecessarilyleadtoculturalhomogenization,but
ratherreinvigoratesculturaldiversityinnewways.
Currenttrendssuchastechnologicalconvergence,freemovementofgoods,
servicesandcapital,aswellasmarketmergersandacquisitions,oftenjeopardize
thepotentialgrowthoflocalcultures,particularlyindevelopingcountriesandin
transitioncountries.Culturalindustriesareincreasinglyconcentratedinthehandsof
afewplayerswhohaveadvancedtechnicalcapacitiesforproducinganddistributing
creativeproducts.
Ontheotherhand,inordertoflourish,whatlocalculturesneedisnottobepre-
servedunchanged,likeinsectsinamber,buttoliveanddevelopintheirownway,
astheythemselveschoose.Andinthis,theycanbenefitfromtheuseofthenew
