inKazimierzDolny)hadnoinfluenceonthecharacteroftheschool.Asbefore,
theprimarygoalofeachofourinvitedspeakerswastogiveaseriesoflectures
which-inapedagogicalway-introducedselectedtopicsinmodernstatistical
physicswiththeideaofarrivingatopenproblems.Theideawastoinspirethe
audiencetomakeresearchrelatedtopresentedtopics.
ThelecturesweregivenbydistinguishedphysicistsfromFrance,Germany,
Denmark,UnitedKingdomandUSA.Theywereattendedbyaninternational
audiencecomposedmostlyofyoungscientists.
Thepresentvolumecontainsthelecturenoteswhichtheinvitedspeakerskin-
dlyagreedtopublish.Weareconvincedthattheirappearanceinprintwillpro-
motetheresearchinthefieldofstatisticalphysics.
