Herethestudentswereprovidedwiththewholevarietyofresearch
toolsandmethodsfordatacollection,suchasobservationschemes,
questionnaires,interviews,diaries,casestudies,etc.;during:
interactivesessionsinwhichthetheoreticalbackgroundwasillustrated
withnumerousexamplesofactionresearchprojectscarriedoutby
practisingteachersbymeansofvarioustoolstheabovewerediscussed
andevaluatedbythestudents,
asessiononthemechanicsofwritingaresearchpaper.
Teinitiationstageoftheprojectwasthelongestsincethestudentshad
virtuallynoexperienceofdoingresearchandfeltfairlyinsecureboth
aboutdatacollection,analysisand(putingitonpaper’justtoquoteone
ofthestudents.
d0Tepreliminaryinvestigationstage
Tepreliminaryinvestigationstagedidnotseemtobeanyeasierfor
thestudentsthanthepreviousone.Itfirstofallthroughtheinitial
brainstormingsessionfocusedonthemostpersistentorchallenging
problemsthestudent-teachersencounteredintheirclassroomswhich
eithertheywerenotabletocopewithorwereunawareofthepossible
variablesorfactorsthatańectedthem.Oncetheproblemsweredefined
andnarroweddown,thelearnersstartedinvestigatingthearea.During
theinterventionstagethelearnersproceededtothepracticalpartoftheir
researchwhichtookplaceintheirclassrooms.Insomecasestheydid
theirresearchindividually,intheothersincollaborationwiththeirpeers,
allthetimebeingmonitoredbytheircollegemethodologytutor.Inthe
courseoftheresearch,thestudentswouldmeeteitherindividuallywith
thetutororinwhole-groupsessionstosharetheirexperiences,doubts,
worriesandenthusiasm,whichwentonthroughouttheperiodofdoing
theproject.

Withtimepassing,thestudentsbecamemoreandmoreinvolvedinthe
research,howevertheywereunfortunatelyworkingundertimepressure
