CityofCracow,theconferencewashostedbyoneofthebranchesof
theMuseum,namely,theOldSynagogueinCracow’sKazimierz.The
majorityofthespeakersrepresentedtheCracowmilieu(especiallythe
ArtHistoryInstituteoftheJagiellonianUniversity),whereastheremain-
ingparticipantseithercamefromotherPolishcities(Wrocław,Warsaw,
Przemyśl)orfromabroad(Olomouc,London).
Thebookcomprises24papers.Twoarticlespresentedatthecon-
ferencecouldnot–forreasonsquiteindependentoftheeditors–be
includedinthevolume.Theyare:TheEnglishBaroque–inSearchof
theOriginsoftheEpochbyBarbaraLejczak(London)andTheEarly-
-BaroquePalacesintheLate-BaroqueCracowbyWaldemarKo-
morowski(Cracow).
Inprinciple,thearticleshavebeenarrangedaccordingtothechrono-
logical-typologicalcriterion,althoughpriorityhavebeengiventothose
whichaddressmoregeneralissues.Someauthorsupdatedbibliographical
referencesintheirtexts.
WewishtoexpressourgratitudetoProfessorWojciechBałus,Di-
