Preface
Tecyberspaceinawidesensepenetratesallaspectsofhumanactivityand
increasinglyconditionsitsfunctioning.Teglobalnetworkofconnectionscon-
tributestothenetworkingbetweenallsubjects:entities,states,andnon-state
actors.Italsosupportsthedevelopmentoftheinformationsociety,whichgener-
atesalotofopportunitiesbutalsothreatsforallusers.Newdeterminantsresultin
theperceptionofthecyberspaceasanareaofinterestnotonlyforpractitioners
butalsoforacademicsandsecurityexperts.
Tefunctioningofpeopleinthecyberspacefitsintothecategoriesofthecon-
temporarymegatrend,leadingtoanewlevelofinteractionswithitsownspecific-
ity,dependentandindependentvariablesandconceptsforensuringitsprotec-
tion.Teresearchinthesecurityofpeopleinthecyberspacereferstobothlegal
issuesrelatedtotheprotectionofpersonaldata,humanandcitizenshiprightsin
theInternet,andprovidingfreedomintheinformationsociety.Tismonograph
istheresultofdiscussionsonthesecurityofpeopleinthecyberspace.Teissue
wasanalyzedinthemicrostructuraldimension,focusingprimarilyontheissues
relatedtothepreventionofthreatstopeople.Tisincludes,amongothers,prob-
lemsofminors,identityfraud,lossofpasswordsandfinancialresourcesaswellas
legalsolutionsinthisaspect.Tedevelopmentofsuchabroadspectrumofissues
requiredtheparticipationofrepresentativesfromvariousacademiccentreswho
exploreawiderangeofissues,aswellaspractitionerswhohaveencounteredprob-
lemsintheirday-to-daywork.Teauthorsinvitedhavedevelopedissuesbasedon
themainstreamdebateonthecyberspacewhichfocusesontheroleofindividuals
inthecyberspace.
Teauthorsrefertotheleadingscientificpublicationsandnormativeactscon-
cerningthesecurityofpeopleinthecyberspace.Teproblemofthecybersecu-
rityofpeopleiscomplexandmultidimensional,thereforethispublicationisthe
startingpointforfurthertheoreticalandempiricalresearch.
Teaimofthismonographistoanalyzeinvariousdisciplinesthesecurity
ofpeopleinthecyberspace,takingintoaccountbothlegalsolutionsinthisfield
aswellasitsdeterminants,withparticularemphasisonthesocial,financialand
educationalchallengesinthisarea.
Teauthorsbasedtheindividualchaptersontheacquiscommunautaireofthe
statesaswellasthesourcesofPolishandEuropeanUnionlaw.Tebookalso
includesreferencestolegalnormswhich,startingfromMay2018,willcompletely
changetheperceptionandfunctioningofinformationsecuritymechanismsin
thememberstatesoftheEuropeanUnion.Asaresult,thecompilationwillnot
becomeinvalidafertheentryintoforceofthenewlegislation.
