17.11Jesusansweredthem,“Elijahindeedcomesfirst,andwillrestore
allthings,17.12butItellyouthatElijahhascomealready,andthey
didn’trecognizehim,butdidtohimwhatevertheywantedto.Even
sotheSonofManwillalsosufferbythem.”17.13Thenthedisciples
understoodthathespoketothemofJohntheBaptizer.
17.14Whentheycametothemultitude,amancametohim,kneeling
downtohim,andsaying,17.15“Lord,havemercyonmyson,for
heisepileptic,andsuffersgrievously;forheoftenfallsintothefire,
andoftenintothewater.17.16SoIbroughthimtoyourdisciples,and
theycouldnotcurehim.”
17.17Jesusanswered,“Faithlessandperversegeneration!Howlongwill
Ibewithyou?HowlongwillIbearwithyou?Bringhimheretome.”
17.18Jesusrebukedhim,thedemonwentoutofhim,andtheboywas
curedfromthathour.
17.19ThenthedisciplescametoJesusprivately,andsaid,“Whyweren’t
weabletocastitout?”
17.20Hesaidtothem,“Becauseofyourunbelief.Formostcertainly
Itellyou,ifyouhavefaithasagrainofmustardseed,youwilltellthis
mountain,‘Movefromheretothere,’anditwillmove;andnothing
willbeimpossibleforyou.17.21Butthiskinddoesn’tgooutexcept
