20.13“Butheansweredoneofthem,‘Friend,Iamdoingyounowrong.
Didn’tyouagreewithmeforadenarius?20.14Takethatwhichisyours,
andgoyourway.Itismydesiretogivetothislastjustasmuch
astoyou.20.15Isn’titlawfulformetodowhatIwanttowithwhat
Iown?Orisyoureyeevil,becauseIamgood?’20.16Sothelastwill
befirst,andthefirstlast.Formanyarecalled,butfewarechosen.”
20.17AsJesuswasgoinguptoJerusalem,hetookthetwelvedisciples
aside,andonthewayhesaidtothem,20.18“Behold,wearegoing
uptoJerusalem,andtheSonofManwillbedeliveredtothechief
priestsandscribes,andtheywillcondemnhimtodeath,20.19andwill
handhimovertotheGentilestomock,toscourge,andtocrucify;and
thethirddayhewillberaisedup.”
20.20ThenthemotherofthesonsofZebedeecametohimwithhersons,
kneelingandaskingacertainthingofhim.20.21Hesaidtoher,“What
doyouwant?”
Shesaidtohim,“Commandthatthese,mytwosons,maysit,one
onyourrighthand,andoneonyourlefthand,inyourKingdom.”
20.22ButJesusanswered,“Youdon’tknowwhatyouareasking.Are
youabletodrinkthecupthatIamabouttodrink,andbebaptizedwith
thebaptismthatIambaptizedwith?”
Theysaidtohim,“Weareable.”
20.23Hesaidtothem,“Youwillindeeddrinkmycup,andbebaptized
withthebaptismthatIambaptizedwith,buttositonmyrighthand
andonmylefthandisnotminetogive;butitisforwhomithasbeen
preparedbymyFather.”
20.24Whenthetenheardit,theywereindignantwiththetwobrothers.
20.25ButJesussummonedthem,andsaid,“Youknowthattherulers
ofthenationslorditoverthem,andtheirgreatonesexerciseauthority
overthem.20.26Itshallnotbesoamongyou,butwhoeverdesires
tobecomegreatamongyoushallbe[TRreads“lethimbe”instead
of“shallbe”]yourservant.20.27Whoeverdesirestobefirstamongyou
shallbeyourbondservant,20.28evenastheSonofMancamenot
tobeserved,buttoserve,andtogivehislifeasaransomformany.”
20.29AstheywentoutfromJericho,agreatmultitudefollowedhim.20.30
