foundpregnantbytheHolySpirit.1.19Joseph,herhusband,being
arighteousman,andnotwillingtomakeherapublicexample,
intendedtoputherawaysecretly.1.20Butwhenhethoughtaboutthese
things,behold,[“Behold”,from“δο”,meanslookat,takenotice,
observe,see,orgazeat.Itisoftenusedasaninterjection.]anangel
oftheLordappearedtohiminadream,saying,“Joseph,sonofDavid,
don’tbeafraidtotaketoyourselfMary,yourwife,forthatwhich
isconceivedinherisoftheHolySpirit.1.21Sheshallgivebirth
toason.YoushallcallhisnameJesus,foritishewhoshallsavehis
peoplefromtheirsins.”
1.22Nowallthishashappened,thatitmightbefulfilledwhichwas
spokenbytheLordthroughtheprophet,saying,
1.23“Behold,thevirginshallbewithchild,
andshallgivebirthtoason.
TheyshallcallhisnameImmanuel”;
whichis,beinginterpreted,“Godwithus.”
1.24Josepharosefromhissleep,anddidastheangeloftheLord
commandedhim,andtookhiswifetohimself;1.25anddidn’tknowher
sexuallyuntilshehadgivenbirthtoherfirstbornson.Henamedhim
Jesus.
