a)aparadigmatc(grammar)methodischaracterizedbytheemphasislaid

erningthedistributonoftheseforms.Thus,pupilsareexpectedtolearn
alltheserulesandparadigmsBYHEARTandeńectvelydrillthemlateron;

c)non-programmedsyntagmatcmethodsembraceahaphazardlycarried
outselectionofconstructions.WhatismainlytaughtisTHETOPICOF

itsunderstandingisofsecondaryimportance.Nobooksareadvisedhere;

constructonstaughttothepupils,stressonintonatonandsegmentalpro-
nunciatoninthecourseforthefirsttwoweeksaswellasevidentstresson
variousformsofdiversifiedformsofwork.Itisclaimedthatbothmethods
areectveifproperlyandsystematcallyapplied;
f)therearefourbasicprinciplesworkedout,whichgoinaccordancewith
thetwo(i.e.eithermono-,orbi-structural)methods.Itisbelievedthatany
FLteacheroughttofollowtheprinciples(specifiedbelow)iftheywantto
teacheńectvely.Theseprinciplesinclude:
