alismisanimportantchallengeforacademics,managersandpersonnel
managersintheworkenvironmentandbusiness.Agreatspaceisbeingopened
foruniversitiesandeducationalagenciesthatpreparefuturemanagers.
AccordingtoDolinská(2010:13),GMulticulturalismconsistsofthreephe-
nomena:itisarealsocialfact,politicalagendaandideologyofbuilding
apeacefulcooperationofdifferentcultures.”Multiculturalismrepresentscon-
nection,blendingtheculturesofvariousethnicgroupsinonearea,butcanalso
beunderstoodastheeffortforequalpositionofnations,ethnicitiesaswellas
socialgroupsinacommonareaorinaonecommunity.Itsessenceisthere-
spectforcultural,national,ethnic,linguisticandreligiousdifferences.
Mistrík(2008)distinguishesamong:
a.Conservativemulticulturalism,whichrespectsthediversityofculturesin
aregionbutconsidersitasnegativeandpresentsonecultureasasuperior
toothers.
b.Liberalmulticulturalism,whichrespectsthediversityofculturesinaregion
andconsidersitaspositive.Thecultureisleftonitsowndeviceswhether
becomesstrongerornot.
c.Criticalmulticulturalism,whichrespectsthediversityofculturesinaregion
butisawareoftheadvantagesanddisadvantagesofthissituation.
Theapplicationofmulticulturalismintoworkinggroupsandteamsmeans
thatcompanieshaveto:
Realizethatculturaldifferencesamongpeoplefromdifferentcountriesexist
andiftheyarenotacknowledgedtheymayhinderthecooperation.
Knowtheessenceofculturaldifferencesandwaysofovercomingthem.
Knowthetypesofsituationsinwhichdifficultiesduetoculturaldifferences
mayarise.
Haveaclearstandpointonthisissue,adoptastrategyandprinciplesofac-
tioninsuchsituations.
Letuscharacterizeeachofitem.Sociologicalinterpretationofculturesays
thecultureplaysveryimportantroleinthelivesofpeople,groupsandsociety.
ItconsistsofGasetofactivitiesandproductsoftheseactivitiesthatenable
peopletosurviveinthenaturalenvironment,togetherwithasetofideas(be-
liefs)andconcepts,aimofwhichistogivethesensetothissurvival”(Chorvát
2000:14).Cultureisacomplexphenomenon.Itconsistsofmaterialelements
materials,theproductsofhumanactivities,intangiblevaluesthathelpmeetthe
spiritualandsocialneeds,socio-culturaldirectionsandsocialinstitutionsthat
allowmanageandregulatebehaviour.Culturethroughvalues,norms,patterns,
ideas,tradition,stylesofthinking,wayofcommunication...learns,restricts,
calls,andformspeopleitentersintotheirlivesandactsinthem.Everyone
