2.Theaxiologicalcrisisanddirectionsofaxiologicaltransformations
Studiesconcerningaxiologicalsystemsandtheirtransformationsmaybeconsideredto
constituteacomfortablevantagepointforinvestigatingthecoursesofchangesafecting
societiesandcultures.Inthiscontext,onemaypostulatethattheconditionofPolish
societycanbecharacterizedasfacingaperiodofimportantculturaltransformations,
anagemarkedbyaspecific“turningpoint”inhistory.Theconditionofcontemporary,
inherentlyglobalizedsocietymaybedefinedintermsofaxiologicalwarpedness.
3.Familyasavalue,andfamily-relatedvalues
Whenthesituationofaxiologicalwarpednessisobserved,thetraditionalfamilyisshed-
dingitsprivilegedstatusinstructuresofsocialworld.Itisobservedasthede-legitimiza-
tionofitsmeaningfulnessasaprimarygroup,socialinstitution,andanenvironmentin
whichone’ssocialpersonalitymatures.Moreover,abeliefisbeingdisseminatedaccord-
ingtowhichthetraditionallyconceivedfamilyisnolongerviewedasasalientsocial
institution.Onthecontrary,itisfrequentlyseenassomethingdispensable.
Whenapproachedfromanaxiologicalperspective,thedirectionsoffamily-related
transformationscanbesummarizedbyenumeratingtwomaintendencies:
—Thetransformationleadingfromthefamilyconceivedasaninstitution,throughthe
familyasacommunity(communiopersonarum),toalternativeformsoffamilyand
marriage.
—Thetransformationfromthegreatfamily,throughthenuclearfamily,totheculture
ofsinglepersons.
Regardlessofapolity,familiesfaceataskofprotectingtheirstatusinestablished
formsofcultureandsocialstructure,aswellassafeguardingtheirrightswithreference
toobligationsheldbystateorself-governmentinstitutionstowardsit.Thefutureof
