SQUIRRELCAGEMOTORMODEL
Thispaperpresentsananalysisandtestresultsforasquirrelcageinductionmotor.The
calculationsarebasedonthefield-circuitmodel.Themathematicalmodelandanalgorithm
forsolvingequationsistakingintoaccountthenonlinearityofthemagneticcircuitandthe
skewedslotsintherotorarepresented.Afour-pole,three-phase,3kWinductionmotoris
investigated.Theresultsofcalculationsofstaticanddynamiccharacteristicsarecompared
tothosemeasuredonthelaboratorymodel.Selectedresultsincludingelectromagnetic
torqueandphasecurrentsarepresentedanddiscussed.

1.INTRODUCTION
Aswellknown,thethree-phasesquirrelcageinductionmotorsarethemost
widelyusedinindustry.Sinceinductionmotorsarereliableandcost-effective
thereishighdemandforthemespeciallybecauseofrapiddevelopmentofpower
electronicsanddigitalcontrolsystems.Bothsteadystatesandtransientfunctional
parametersaretakenintoaccountwhiledesigninginductionmachineswithwide
rangeofpoweroutput.Forthisreason,thealgorithmsutilizedforthedesignand
simulationareformulatedtoachievenotonlytheaverageandRMSvaluesbutalso
theinstantaneousvaluesoftestedquantitiessuchascurrentsorelectromagnetic
torques.
