1.INTRODUCTION

BeginoftheXXIcenturyisatimeofdynamicaldevelopmentofHigh

Definition(HD)TV.Thisisasystem,whichguaranteescolourpictureprojection

withresolutionfrom1280x720pixels(HD720)upto1920x1080pixels

(HD1080).Implementationofthissystemwasconcurrentwithfasttechnology

developmentinvisualizationdevicessuchasTVsets(plasmaandLCD)aswellas

TVprojectors(LCDandDLP).Atthesametime,anewstoragedeviceBluray

Disc(BD)wasintroducedtoguaranteeHDqualityrecordingofvideoprograms.

Also,someofSatelliteTVplatformsofferafewhighresolutionprograms.

However,recordedBD’ssalesofferisyetpoorandcannotbecomparabletothatof

recordedonDVD.Therefore,itshouldbeexpectedthatconsiderablemajorityof

TVbroadcastswatchedonmodernHDTVwillmaintaintheirstandardresolution

(SD)forlongtime.ForDVDstoragedeviceanddigitalsatelliteTV,theresolution

is720x576pixels.Fortraditionallybroadcastedanaloguetelevisionsignal,the

strongestconstraintisbandwidth:itisrangingbetween4,2MHz(MandN

systems)and6MHz(D,K,K1andLsystems).Consideringthatbettercase,itcan

beeasilyprovedthathorizontalsolutioncanbemerelyca.400pointsby625lines

(PALsystem).SoaSDpicturedisplayedonaHD1080screenwillcomprisejust

about20percentofpixelscomingfrombroadcasttransferredorrecorded.Therest

ofpointsmustbeinterpolatedbydisplayingdevices(TVorprojector).A

subjectiveevaluationofSDpicturequalitydisplayedbyHD1080classTVsets

(mediumpricerange)allowssayingthatre-samplingalgorithmsusedareofpoor

efficiency.

Thisworksuggestsusingapictureenlargingsolutionalgorithmbuiltonthe

basisofmediandigitalfilter.Owingtowell-knownmedianfilterproperties,the

picturereconstructedcanbeprojectedwithhigheraccuracyprovidingnoise

reductionatthesametime.

Inthiswork,aspecialcaseofresamplingisconsidered,socalledtwice

oversamplingofpointnetbeinga2-Dmatrixfigureset.Thefact,thatmainlynew
