Introduction
Thisessayisanintellectuallanguagegameinspiredbyliteratureor,
aswecouldassert,anarrativehistorytoldinimagesbythatmost
famousofEnglishpoets,WilliamShakespeare.Throughtheeyes
ofhisliterature,wewillreconsiderandpresentspecifictendencies
andrelationshipsininternationalaffairsbetweenstates,nations,and
continents.ThisweundertakeintermsofAntoniSobanski’s(2007:
43)words:“It’snotimportant,what’sreallyhappening,butwhathas
caughttheimaginationofthepeople”.Mostoftentheseimaginations
havebecomemoreorlesspartofWestern4culturalhistoricalmemory’
(Assmann2002).Friendlyorstrainedrelationsbetweenstatesare
theoutcomesofactions,deeds,words,commoninterests,andshared
values,butarealsoshapedbyimaginationsandstereotypesthatthem-
selvesarebiasedbyone’sownculturalbackgroundashasbeenshown
otherwiseinpostcolonialstudies.
