PREFACE
Thelastdecadeapermanentgrowthofinterestsandconcentrationofef-
fortsofresearcherteamsinnanochemistry,physicsandmaterialsciences
havebeenobservedonengineering,fabricationandstudyofnewnano-
complexesincludingorganicnanoparticlesandcomplexmolecularsystems
forfunctionalapplicationsindifferentfields.Inthisrespectsuccessfulengi-
neeringofsuchobjectshavingdesiredpropertiesdemandsaprecise
knowledgephysico-chemicalcharacteristicsallcomponentsofnanocom-
pounds,thelatterveryoftencontainorganicmultiatomicmolecules.This
circumstanceraisedsignificantinteresttodeeperstudyofmolecularsystems
indiverseenvironmentsincludingvarioussolventsandothermatrices.The
secondimportantpointoflargeattentionattractingtodiversifiedstudyof
multiatomicmoleculesisinthescientificandpracticalimportanceofaset
offundamentalprocessestakingplaceinthem.Wementionhereonlysuch
intensivelystudyingubiquitousprocessesoftransformationofabsorbeden-
ergyasphotosynthesis,intramolecularredistributionsofexcitationenergy,
reactionsofisomerization,phototautomerizm,protonandelectrontransfer,
complexation,migrationofenergyexcitationandsomeothers.Thestudyof
themisoffundamentalsignificanceforchemistry,molecularphysics,biolo-
gyandbiophysicsastheyplayakeyroleinfunctioningoflivingorganisms.
Inthelastdecadestheprogressinanimprovementoftraditionalexperi-
mentaltechniques,theemergenceofprincipallynewones,suchassingle
moleculesfluorescentandRamanspectroscopy,togetherwithadvancesin
quantummechanicalandquantumchemicalmodelinghaveconsiderably
broadenedpossibilitiesofresearchersandfacilitatearisingnewscientific
fields(Lakowicz2006,Demchenko2009).Astheexamplesofthelatterswhich
appearedrecentlyandassociatedwithcomplexmoleculesandnanocom-
poundsstudywemaymentionbiophotonics,photodynamictherapy,bio-
medicaloptics,twophotonmicroscopyandmicrofabrication.Thereare
promisingapplicationsofnanocompoundsinenergetics,optoelectronicsand
molecularelectronicswherewementiononlyorganicphotovoltaicandor-
ganiclightemittingdiodes(OLED).
