I.ProperNames
Cratylusis,Ithink,oneofthosedialoguesthatlinkthewhole
CorpusPlatonicumtogether—weknowsomewhicharelinkedbyel-
ementsofnarration,andsomelinkedbytopics.Thelinkingagentin
thecaseofCratylusislesseminent,butnotlessimportant:itssub-
ject,asitwassaid,isvalidforallphilosophicalthinking,butthe
wayinwhichtheargumentationispresentedisnot,stylistically
speaking,obvious—itcouldratherbeanearlytext(evenoneofthe
Socraticgroup),itcouldbeadialogueco-temporalwithbigontologi-
cal,epistemological,andmethodologicalstatementsofSophistor
