sation.com2020).Obviously,theresultsoftheabove-mentionedsurveys
aretheeńectofmediainfluenceonglobalpublicopinion.
Itshouldbenotedthatthemediaaroundtheworldusedińerentframes
tointerpretenvironmentalproblems,includingclimatechange(see:
Painter,2013).Aglobalpluralismontheissueofglobalwarmingdoes,
however,exist,thoughmoreemphasisontheproblemislaidbythemedia
inthedevelopedcountriesofEurope,NorthAmericaorAustralia,thanin,
forexample,financiallypoorer(however,richinnature)countriesinother
continents(Sajna,2012,pp.71-83;Sajna,2016,pp.11-30).Arecentanal-
ysisofthenewscoverageofclimatechangein45dińerentcountriesand
territorieshaveshownthatthenewsmediaframevariesfromcountryto
country,andsuchavariationisrelatedtoeachcountry’seconomicdevel-
opment,climateseverityandgovernance(Vu,Liu,Tran,2019).Asaconse-
quence,citizenattitudestowardsclimatechangeandotherenvironmental
problemsvariesbetweencountries(seenalsointheabove-mentioned
surveys).
Temediaandenvironmentaljournalismhavebecomeoneofthe
mainareasofstudywithinthewiderfieldoftheenvironmentalcommuni-
cation.RobertCox(2010)explains:uInmanyways,thestudyofenviron-
mentalmediahasbecomeitsownsubfield.Itfocusesonthewaysinwhich
thenews,advertising,commercialprograms,andInternetsitesportray
natureandenvironmentalproblems.Itisalsothestudyoftheelectsofthe
mediaonpublicattitudes”(Cox,2010,p.17).Infact,themediainfluence
publicopinionandpublicattitudes,includingattitudestowardsenviron-
mentalproblems.Asaconsequence,thestateofnatureandglobalwarming
dependsonthepoliticalactivityofrepresentativesofsocietywhorespond
totheneedsandconcernsofpeople,shapedbythemedia.ManuelCas-
tellsinhisworkuCommunicationPower”(2009)underlinestheroleof
themassmediaintransformingenvironmentalissuesintoapolicyissue:
uWhileinternationalconferencesmayraisetheprofileofenvironmental
issuesamongtheworld’spoliticalelite,itisthroughthemassmediathat
thepubliclearnsaboutthescientificfindingsrelatingtoissuesthatmay
