herearlynovels,shemovedontoplayinginamoreinvolvedand
oftensubversivewaywiththeseconventionsinMiddlemarchand
DanielDeronda.Mostinterestingly,hernotesforhernextnovel,
summarizedabove,containawealthofsensationalmotifsthat
clearlysuggestshemeanttocontinuetheseexperimentsinfurther
work.
