netisthereforeselectionandchoice.Thissupposesonemakeschoicesandisnot
addictedtotheInternet,butratherfindsitusefulandrewarding.Aretherenot

continuestoexistandisaccessibleevenbythosewhoshouldnotreadit.We
areconcernedaboutourpersonaldata,letters,wordsandopinions.Aletter
sentbyapersonAtopersonBisnottheuniqueoriginaltextlikesnailmail.
Thesecouldbestolenorsubjecttocontrolasincommunistregionswhich

DependencyandAddiction
Peoplegetdependentonmedications,cola,sex,coinscollecting,etc.So
whynottotheInternet?Receivingvirtualsatisfactiontovariousneeds,may
viaconditioningprocessesleadtoaddiction.TheInternetuserfeelstenseand
uneasyunlessheissittingatakeyboardandopeningthebroadworldonhis
sacredscreen.Tolimitoneselfandtocontrolthecontentsbecomesdifficultso
oneletsgoandforhoursopenedthechangingscreenisone’scompanion.Ifthe
addictionweretotheinformationorofaneducationcharacter,thenthecriti-
cismandconcernswouldprobablybeofsmallerweight.Butoftentheaddicts
areboundedtowatchfilms,and/orsomesex-relatedgamesandthereforenot
