andbringsuchradicalchangetohumanlifeandthefunctioningofsociety.The
initialstepwastakennotsolongagobecausetheInternetbegantobewidely
usedinthelate1990s,whenTimBerners-LeecreatedtheHTMLasystemthat
allowedtoconnectdifferentdocumentsintoanetwork.
Apartfromtheadvantages,peoplealsobegantounderstandthedrawbacksof
computer-mediatedcommunication.Manyresearcherscarriedoutstudiesexam-
iningthequalityofCMCandonlinebehavior.Theyidentifiedtheprinciples
governinghumaninteractionwiththecomputerandtheWeb.Researchononline
behaviorandInternetitselfcontinuestoyieldmoreandmoredetailedresults
thatbringusclosertoatruepictureofcyberspace.
Therehavebeenmultipleresearchthemesintheeldofonlinebehavior
psychology.Someofthemhavequitealongtradition(pathologicalInternetuse,

makesitnecessarytostudysocialnetworkinginthepsychologicalcontext.
