Thefollowingarticleaimstopresenttheoverviewofthecontemporaryphilosophical
discourseregardinghumanrights.Inthefirstpartofthetext,theauthorpresentsthreekindsof
argumentsusedbytheopponentsoftheideaofhumanrights.Thosearguments,inturn,stem
fromthesupposeduniversalityascribedtohumanrights.Thus,inthesecondpartofthearticle,
theauthoranalyzestheculturalcritiqueofhumanrights.Thediscussionultimatelyleadstothe
conclusionthatnarrowly-definedculturalrelativismdoesnotconstituteasufficientreasonfor
therejectionofhumanrights,particularlywhenoneaccountsforthefactthatthosesentiments
