KazakhstanisanimportantCentralAsiancountrywhosecultural,political,mili-

tary,andeconomicpotentialisenhancedbyitshistoricalbackground.Beingthe

ninthlargestcountryintheworldbyareaandquiterichinundergroundresources,

Kazakhstanhascometotheforeregionallyandinternationallyduetoitsincreasing

internationalinfluence.Inaddition,theKazakhlanguageandculturehavedrawn

considerableinterest,particularlyinthelast25years.

Despiteitsethnic,religiousandlinguisticdiversity,Kazakhstanhassucceeded

inpreservingpeaceandpoliticalstabilitywithinitsborders.Peace,harmony,and

dialogueamongtheculturesandlanguagesofKazakhstanisanoteworthyexample

fortherestoftheworld.BeingintriguedbyKazakhlanguageandculture,academics

fromaroundtheworldhavestudieditfromvariousaspects.TheInstituteofOriental

StudiesatAdamMickiewiczUniversity,Poznań,isaninstitutionwhereKazakh

istaughtatundergraduateandgraduatelevelswithinthecurriculumofTurkology.

InadditiontotheteachingofKazakh,variousdimensionsofKazakhcultureand

theculturesofCentralAsianpeoplesaretaughtatourinstitute.

In2019,wecelebratedthe10thanniversaryoftheSectionofKazakhStudies.It

wasoriginallypartoftheDepartmentofAsianStudies,butin2020itwasmerged

withtheDepartmentofOrientalStudies,whichisnowknownastheInstituteof

OrientalStudies.Sinceitsinception,anumberofstudiesontheKazakhlanguage

andculturehavebeenpublishedandtwenty-fiveundergraduateandmaster’sthe-

sesonnumeroussubjectsrelatedtoKazakhlanguage,culture,andsocietyhave

beendefended.Wehavealsohostedmanyscholarlyandsocialevents.Theongo-

ingcollaborationbetweenourdepartmentandKazakhuniversitiesandresearch

institutionsplaysakeyroleinsupportingoureducationalandthereforecultural

partnership.Unfortunately,duetothenewPolisheducationlawcomingintoforce

thisyearandthesubsequentnewuniversityregulations,theKazakhSectionhas

beenincorporatedintotheDepartmentofTurkicStudies,thoughteachingand

researchcontinue.
