Againstallappearances,theformalpositionofthenumeralinPolishisexceptionally
strong.Duetoitsuniqueness,instabilityandmulti-directionality,asurveyofallproblems
shouldnotraisereservationsorsurpriseteachersofPolishorpublishersofresource
booksofPolishasaforeignlanguage.
Inparticular,itmustbestressedthatthePolishnumeral,duetotheabove-mentioned
heterogeneityandotherspecificcharacteristics,doesnotfollowanygrammaticalrules
previouslyacquiredbytheforeignerlearningPolish.
Hencetheideaforitspossiblycomprehensivemorphologicalclassificationandthe
presentationofitssyntaxinpracticeinsuchawaythatitsdisputableroleandfunctions
instructuresofthenominalgroupwhichis,inessence,difficulttoestablishbecome
moreaccessibletotheforeignertryingtodiscoverallsecretsofthePolishlanguage.
Basicinformationwithreferencetotheinflectionandsyntaxofnumeralscanbe
foundinPartIofthisbook.Itpresentsnotonlydefinitionsofparticularheadwords,
inflectionalpatterns,andthesyntacticfeaturesofall40numerals,butalsootherdetailed
information,e.g.referringtoinflectionalpatternsofmulti-wordcardinalnumerals,func-
tionsofordinalnumerals,etc.
Acarefulreaderwillfindherenumerousexplanationswhichwillhelphim/herunder-
standthepeculiaritiesofPolishnumeralsorwordsindicatingreferencestonumbers.
Itisalsoworthmentioningthatthisvolumemakesuseofasmalltreasureboxof
Polishphraseologicalexpressionswiththenumeralastheirmostprominentingredient.
PartIIofthistextbookcomprisesexercisesintheinflectionandsyntaxofnumerals.
Theideafortheselectionandarrangementofover200exerciseswasdevelopedin

auniformconceptualwhole.Sentenceconstructionsusedinexercisesarecharacterized
