theprogrammingofthebroadcastersandtherulessetbytheircaregivers.
Excessiveparticipationintelevisionreception,especiallybychildren,was
oftenperceivedasathreattotheirintellectualandemotionaldevelopment.
Successivetechnologicalrevolutionsandradicalchangesintheprocess-
esofmasscommunication,theemergenceoffurtherapplicationsofnew
media,combinedwiththedevelopmentofnetworkmediaandthecul-
tureofparticipation,meantthattoday’sgenerationofchildrenandteen-
agersbelongstoadigitalnativespopulation.Anyregulationandcontrol
overtheformsofdigitalnative’sparticipationinthemediavirtualworld
unworkable.ModernICTsandtheirrelatedapplicationsareavailableto
theeventheyoungestofusers.Alreadychildrenwithafewyearsofage
havedigitalcompetenceenablingthemtohandlesimpleapplicationson
tabletorlaptop.Mobiledevicessuchasmobilephones,smartphones,and
tabletsfavoryounguserswhosetechnologicalskills,agility,andtheabil-
ityforcontinuouslearningandconstantadaptationtochangeisnatural-
lythehighestamongtheentirepopulationofmediausers.Miniaturiza-
tionandmulti-functionalityofICTsarealsofactorsthatareofnobarrier
tochildrenandteenagers.Digitalnativesarenotburdenedbyanyhabits
ofcommunication,norbysocialritualuseofmassmedia.Thisgeneration
ofteenagers,labeledbysociologistsastheZGeneration,createsitsown
ritualsandaccessesthesocialandculturalspace(oftenunconsciously)
inaccessibletothirty-year-olds,eventhosefamiliarwithsocialnetworks
andthecultureofinformationtechnology.

usersinvolvedinalltheconsequencesoftheexpansionofsocialmedia.

widespreadparticipationintheinformationsocietyofeveryoungerme-
diausersgeneratesseveralofnewresearchproblems.Benefitsandthreats
