PaperfocusesonparticularfeaturesofcooperationbetweenAsianstates.Analysis
offourmajorAsianintegrationgroupings’(APTA,ASEAN,ECOandSAARC)position
inworldeconomyandinternationaltrade,aswellastheirdegreeofopennessillustrate
atheoreticalstudyofmodesandmotivesbehindthecooperation.Wearguethatinterms
ofculture,politicsandeconomyAsianstatesdifferconsiderably.Suchsituationcauses
fearofcontactswiththeouterworld.Yetagrowingnumberofstatescooperateinter-
nationally,whichisalsoreflectedinestablishmentofregionalintegrationgroupings.
Althoughempiricalstudycoversonlyfourgroupings,majordisparitiesinterms
ofwealth,opennesstoeconomiccooperationandgrowthdynamicsareobservedeven
duringthecrisis.
