mation.ConstanceHeadandBarryBaldwinhavedemon-
stratedthevalueByzantinehistoriansingeneralplaced
onekphrasticportraiture,particularlyofemperors(HEAD,
1980alsoBALDWIN,1981).Thattheonlyothersections
ofportraitsinMalalasareoftheapostlesandofRoman
emperorssuggeststhatMalalasbelievedtheGreeksand
Trojansdeserveequalstaturewiththeseillustriousgroups
