Summary:
Thepurposeofthispaperistoshowapartofresultsofresearchinexamination
ofrigidmaterialusedforthermalinsulationwithmodiedstructure.Modication
ofthematerialwasrelyingonmakingofparallelperforationstothedirectionof
theheatandmoistureow.Thebasesolidmaterialwasanexpandedpolystyrene
(15EPS-70-040)withboardthicknessof5cm.Inthebasematerialthecircular
perforationswithdiameterof1,3and5mmweredone,onthe2cmx2cmgrid
(for15EPS-70-40materialadditionalsamplesweredonewithperforations7,9
and11mm).Theresearchesweredividedtopreliminaryandessentialones.The
scopeofresearchincludedthemeasurementofwatervapourfactor’stransferas
wellasthemeasurementofheatconductivityfactor;thethermographiccontrolof
bulkheadinsulatedbysolidandperforatedStyrofoam,thesimulationofthermal-
moisturephenomenainanalyzedbulkheads.Theessentialresearchwasconducted
intheLaboratoryofSolarEnergyUsageintheFacultyofArchitecture.Twowall
arrangementswereanalyzedintheresearch.Thecommonelementwasthewall’s
carryingconstruction.Therstbulkheadwasinsulatedbythematerialwitha
modiedstructure-thestyrofoamwith5mmperforation.Therelativetemperature
andhumidityofexternalandinternalairwasregistered,ontheborderofthe
bulkheadlayersaswell.Theexternalclimateparameterswereregisteredbythe
Kombiweatherstation.Intheframeworkofresearchthemathematicalmodelof
coaxialtransportprocesseswasveried.Moreover,selectedthermal-moisture
parametersofwallarrangementswerespecied.Thesewereasfollows:theheat

Introduction
Thestyrofoamistoday,alongsidethemineralwool,themostcommonmaterialused
inthermalinsulation.Itsphysicalpropertiesasathermalinsulationmaterialusedin
architecturalengineeringwereresearchedasearlyas30yearsago.Oneofitsphysical
properties-thelowwatervapourpenetrability-wasatthesetimesacknowledgedas
disadvantageous.Thegoodthermalinsulation,easinessintreatment,lowabsorption
capacityandlowdensitycausethatthismaterialfounditsimplementationinthejointless
thermalinsulationsystemsofbuildings(ETICS,Instruction447/2009).Thestyrofoam,as
eachbuildingmaterial,hasitsdisadvantages.Thelowwatervapourpenetrabilityisoneof
them.Thefastpaceofbuildingworksandwillingnessforputtingtousethenewlyerected
buildingscausethatstyrofoamisoftenusedinbulkheadscontaininglarge(considerable)
