Abstract.TheChinesebecameﬁrstinterestedinPolandanditscultureduringthetmeof

greatchangesinbothPolandandtheirowncountry,namelyintheearly20thcentury.Yet

wehadtowaituntl1950sfortheﬁrstChinesegraduatesofPolishstudies.Theirpioneer-

ingachievementsinresearch,translatonand,primarily,teachinghavebeenfollowedup

bylaudablesuccessors.Today,Polishstudiesareoferedinmorethanadozenacademic

centresacrossthePeople’sRepublicofChina.The21stcenturybringsmoregroundbreaking

eventsforPolandandChinaandtheintensiﬁcatonofmutualinterest:Poland’saccessionto

theEuropeanUnion,ontheonehand,andChina’s“NewSilkRoad”Programmeontheother.

TheprogressinmutualrelatonsgivesrisetothegrowinginterestinthePolishlanguageand

PolishcultureamongyoungChinesepeople.Theauthorofthistexthaspersonallyobserved

thosedevelopmentswhileworkingasateacherofPolishasaforeignlanguageatBeijing

ForeignStudiesUniversity(2000-2005)andatGuangdongUniversityofForeignStudies

(2014-2018).
