closelyinterconnectedbyvariousrelations,functions,andactivitiesthatsatisfy
theneedsoffamilymembersandsocietyasawhole.
Thecurrentdebateonfamilyissubjecttorapidsocialchangeswhichhave
hadcolossalnegativeimpactoneconomyitselfandontheeconomyofen-
tirecountries:asharpdecreaseinthenumberoflargefamilies,risingageof
thefirst-timemotherhood,changesinsexualbehavior,increasingnumberof
childrenbornoutsidemarriage,secularization,divorceexplosion,ashiftinthe
women’sapproachtomaternityfromalifelongmissiontomerelyashortepi-
sode,and,aboveall,theabsolutizationofadecisionmadebyanindividualis
nolongerirreversible.AlthoughthesocialconditionsafterWorldWarIIare
characterizedbytheboomoffamilylife,theunprecedentedincreaseinthe
birthrate,economicgrowthwhichisassociatedwiththeriseoflivingstandards
ofbroadsocialclasses(mainlyintheUSandinthecountriesofWesternand
NorthernEurope),absolutizationofthewillofanindividualwhoisoriented
towardsproduction,consumption,andprofit,aswellasstrengtheningtherole
ofthestateinthesocialspherehavecreatedconditionswheretheso-farsuc-
cessfulsolutionstoproblemsarefailing.Thesechangeshavealsobeenreflected
inthearrangementofmaritalrelations,thatis,inthemovefromhierarchicalto
egalitarianrelationshipbetweenthepartners,theshiftfromtherelationshipof
normativedefinitionofrolestotherelationshipwhichrespectsindividualityand
individualrolesofpartners.However,themostproblematicissueseemstobean
egoisticemphasisonbenefitsofthemarriage,ontakingfromtherelationship
morethanongivingorself-givingofonetoanother.1

Decompositionofthetribalsocietyledtothecreationofpoliswhichischar-
acterizedbyarapiddevelopmentoftools,consistentdivisionoflabor,theuse
ofslavesforagriculturalandcraftwork,developmentoftrade,introductionof
casheconomy,andcolonizationofthenearbyareas.Allthesefactorsbrought
economicprosperity.Theheadofpoliswasgodwhoprotectedit.2
