inrecentdecadeshaveseenagrowingawarenessofthemanyandvariedperspectives
(i.e.,contexts)fromwhichjewelrymaybestudied.Teseintegratenumerousdisciplines
suchasarthistoryandiconography,thestudyofwrittensources,thescientificstudyof
materialsandtechnology,inadditiontotradepatterns,migrationoftechnology,craf
specializationandmanufacturingprocessesandculturalcontactstonameonlyafew.

contextisnolessimportantinthisprocessthanistheculturalcontext,makingtheir
