TheArchaeologicalMissionatKomel-Dikka,Alexandria,work-
edfromNovember1993tillJune1994,theactualseasonof
excavationslastingthreemonthsstartingApril3.1Apartfrom
ongoingarchaeologicalresearchintegratedwiththerestora-
tionprogramme,2excavationswereconcentratedintwoareas:
–
Theater(sectorM);
–
areanorthofthecistern(sectorF).
Amajortaskoftheseasonwastocontinueresearchonthe
EarlyRomandomesticarchitectureofAlexandria.3
THEATER(SECTORM)
Investigationswereconcentratedintheareaofthelarge
porticoinfrontoftheTheater,withintheboundariesofformer
trenchMX,exploredin1973.4Presentexcavationscoveredsome
100m2.Surprisinglywellpreservedremainsofwhatappearsto

deforthegenerousassistanceitreceivedinthecourseofitsworktoalltheSCA
authorities,andpersonallytoMrs.DoreyaSaid,GeneralDirectoroftheGreco-
RomanMuseuminAlexandria.
