InthesouthernsectoroftheCisternssomearchaeological
andarchitecturalinvestigationswereconducted.Twosetsof
LateRomanwaterwellsandadjoiningsectionsofchannelswere
cleared.Theresultofthisresearchenabledthenecessary
documentationtobecompleted.Workcouldalsoproceedon
thefinalplanforitsexpositionandconservation.
BATHCOMPLEX
Astonevaultoverafuelstorelocatedinfrontofhypocaust
furnaceno.IVwasreconstructed(Fig.3:a).Thisstore,located
underthepavementoftheBath'ssouthernporticoedpassage,
formedpartofalargeundergroundstructureservingmainte-
nancepurposes.Thisreconstructionpermittedworktopro-
ceedonthepreparationofvisitorspathsintheareabetweenthe
BathandtheCisterns(Fig.3:b-b).
Alargepillarsupportingthenortheasterncornerofthe
palestrawaspreparedforreconstruction.Alargeblockcontain-
ingsocketsforwoodenarchitraveswasproperlyexhibited
(Fig.3:c).
Twomorecolumnsoftheporticowerere-erected(Fig.3:d,e).
Asteeltripodusedforliftingcolumnswasthenrelocatedand
reassembledinanewlocationinordertore-erectyetanother
columninthecomingseason.Oneofthepartlydestroyed
marblebaseswasrestoredandanotheronewasreconstructed
usingartificialstoneaccordingtoaformulaalreadydescribed
inthepreviousreport.
Inthelatrine(sectorC),twomorebasesweremadeofarti-
ficialstoneinordertocontinuetherestorationandanastylosis
ofacolumnlocatedintheverycorneroftheperistyle.
Afragmentarilypreservedmarblecolumn,whichwasalready
partlyrestoredduringthepreviousseason,wasadditionally
