Theharbourswerethepermanentmarketplaces,spotsforexchangingagricultural
produceandcraftsmen’works.DuetothatfactorPomeranianboroughslocatednearthe
seashoreortheriversfurtherintothelanddevelopedthemselves,whatgavebasistolat-
tercitiesandheadquartersofthegovernmentandelites.Thetime,whenpaganSlavs
workedandlivedinthePomerania,gaveanopportunityofprogressforthestrongcities
emerginginthenewpoliticalandsocialconditions.
