everythingisconnected,butthatatthesametimetheforms,the

wemightsay–thattheconceptofbarelifeisnotsomuchempty
asitisincomplete,sinceeverythingisalwaysalreadyconnected
tootherthings.KBareexistence”isnotbare,itismediatedby
potentialsandrelationsthatareindissolublyformativeand
determinative.KCommunity”precedesanddeterminesthe
existenceofindividuals.
ButtheKcommunity”thatpreoccupiedThoreauthroughout
hislifeisnotjustanyformofrelationship.10Itisnotsimply
contiguityorcoincidenceinspace.Itisadistinctlystrongformof
connection,andonethatiscomplexlymodulated.Consequently
