YesterdayeveningwhenIbecameprettytiredofwritingmynovel
TheWhiteIris,1aswellasreadingbothPaultheApostlebyErnstRenan2
andtheGermanBible,3IbeganthinkingofwhatelseIcoulddo(doing
thesamethingrepeatedlydoesbotherme),andthenIdecidedtoreturnto
mydiary.Iknow,eventhismaymakemewearysoonandIshallquit,but
anywayIcanentertainmyselfforawhile.
Ithasbeenalongtime,maybetwoorthreeyears,sinceIstartedmy
diary;andsincethenmylifehaschangeddramatically:Ihavetravelled
manyplaces,metalotofqueerpeople,agreatmanythingshavehap-
penedtomebutnoneofthese,justnothinghaseveraffectedmeinany
way.Alas,IamstillasinexperiencedasIwasbefore.Iamafraidofev-
erythingandwishwelltoeveryone,inaword,Iamshy,timidandbe-
nevolent.
