personswithdisabilities.Theconferencegatheredtheoreticianswhoresearch,
analyze,andrecounttheworldasexperiencedbypersonswithdisabilities,
aswellaspractitionerswhodealwiththesepeople’sdailyupsanddownson
aregularbasis.Themeetingresultedinanextremelyinterestingeventtohave
beenmadepartoftheconferencedevotedtospecialpedagogyforthefirst
timeeversince.Renderingtheprinciplethatstates“nothingaboutuswithout
us”integraltotheconference,peoplewithdisabilitiesinvitedtothemeeting
weregivenanopportunitytospeakforthemselvesanddepicttheworldsur-
roundingthemfromtheirownperspective.Thus,partfourgivesanaccountof
thatpaneldiscussion,whosethemewas“Theworldseenfromtheotherside.
Expectationsofpeoplewithdisabilities.”Discussionsonissuesthatconcern
peoplewithdisabilitiesveryoftenarise;moreover,theirparticipantsfrequently
makeattemptstoperceivetheworldthroughtheireyes;however,muchas
theytry,thepictureoftheworldasexperiencedbypeoplewithdisabilities
astheyhold,isalwaysdistortedandneverexact.Asitwasstatedbefore,our
researchdealswithvariousaspectsoftheirlife.Wealwaysaspiretoshow
theirexperienceofrealityinanobjectiveway,andtoimprovethequalityof
theirlife.Nonetheless,weoftenlookfromthepointofviewofhealthy,well-
-strivingpeople,andthereforeinordertoassertthetruth,wehavetolisten
towhattheyhavetosay,fortheirvoiceisasvaluableasours,aspeoplewith
disabilitiescancommunicatetheirneedsfromtheirownperspective.
Bywayofconclusion,wepresenttheReaderwithacollectionofvalu-
ablearticles,boththeoreticalandpracticalones,withthehopethattheywill
renderourpictureoftheworldasexperiencedbypeoplewithdisabilitiesless
blurred,moreexact,andthattheywillprovokereflectiononsocialperception
aswellastheirbeingintheworld,asthesepeoplearelikeothersyetmarked
withasingle,distincttrait,thatistheirdisability.
