Steelsheetsfoldedinonedirectionindicatetheincreaseofusingsteel
buildingcoveringsespeciallyforroofing.Firstofall,thesheetsareemployedas:
a)structuralelementsresistingboththeirownweightandcharacteristic
loadingonaccountofradicallydiversifiedvaluesofstiffenessesofvariouskinds
likebendingortorsionalones,
b)corrugatedroofsheetingsbeingcharacterizedbygreatabilityinadapting
theirshapestothecurvatureandmutuallocationofroofdirectrices.Particular
propertiesofwarpedsurfacesofvarioustypesareutilizedinshapingthe
transformedshellsheetings.
AdamReichhartfirsthasinvestigatedthepossibilitiesresultingfromthe
diversifiedstiffnessesofthefoldedsheetingstotransformthemeffectivelyinto
corrugatedroofshells.Theeffectivenessoftheseshapetransformationsconsists
inintentionalchangingthenominallyplanarfoldedsheetingsintorequired
corrugatedshellshapesbypreservingthepossiblesmalleffort.Thatiswhy,the
freeformroofsareinnovative,attractiveandeffective.Hesolvedsomemain
problemsrelatedtotheimportantmaterialandgeometricalrestrictions
associatedwiththeshapetransformations,whichmakeitimpossibletofull
applicationofthetransformedsheetsforroofing.
TheReichhart’smethodrequiresmodificationsandsupplementsdueto
creationmodelsforanykindoftheeffectivetransformations,theneedforthe
knowledgeintermofgeometryandstructuralworkoftheshellsheetingor
mathematicaldescriptionsofthedesignedfreeshellforms,amongotherthings.
Thereducedandapproximatealgorithmsandmodelsobtainedexcludethe
methodfromsomeapplicationslikederivingexactmathematicalconditionsof
thedesignedwarpedshellsanditsrulingsortakingaccountofco-operationof
adjacentfoldsinatransformedshellsheeting.
Theworkprovidesgeometricalshapingoffreebuildingformsroofedwith
steelsheetingfoldedinonedirection.Twovariousmethodsofshapingthese
roofshellsheetingsareproposed.Thebothmethodsenabletoachieveagreat
diversificationoftheinnovativeandattractiveroofshellsbypreservingan
importantrestrictionrelatedtothefactthattheeffortcausedbytheinitialshape
transformationsofthesheetingshouldbeassmallaspossible.
Varioustypesoftheeffectiveshapetransformationsresultingfrom
diversifiedstiffnessesofthefoldedsheetsinorthogonaldirectrions,including
bending,torsionalandshearingones,aredefinedsothattheycouldbeexploited
bythemethodstoobtaintheaboverequiredpurposes.Asaresultofapplication
ofeachofthesemethods,variouseffectiveandattractivearchitecturalmodels
fortheshellroofsandevenentirebuildingfreeformscanbecreateddepending
