andtotheculturalmatchbetweentheexaminersandthechildren.Otherstud-
iesthathavetakenintoconsiderationthesocioeconomicstatusoftheparents,
nutritionalstatus,birthweight,andpreschoolexperiencesofthechildren,find
theso-calledracialgapinIQbetweenRomachildrenandothersalmostincon-
sequential(Kezdi&Kertesi,2011).
Teresearchinthecurrentvolumeattemptstodispelsomemythsandto
placethedevelopmentandeducationofRomachildrenintheirculturaland
historicalcontext.Teresearchisconductedwithmoreunderstandingofthe
languageandculturalmilieuinwhichRomachildrengrowup.Romatesters
presentthematerialswheneverpossible,andRomaniisusedasthelanguageof
thetest.

dińerences,canrapidlybecomefodderforpoliticalextremists,neo-Nazisand
racists,whoseattacksonRomainthelastdecadeshavenotabated(Cvorovic,
2014).TereremainsahugegapintheeducationalexperiencesofRomaand
mainstreamchildreninEurope.Sustainedattentionandadequatefundingis
neededtobringjusticetotheircircumstances.Tatattentionmustproceedin
fullacknowledgementofpastsystemicracistbias,andwithafullerunderstand-
ingoftheculturalandhistoricalcontextoftheRoma.
