Thespecificityofcontemporarycorruption-relatedhazardshaspavedthe
wayforvariousinstitutionalizedattemptstocurbtheproblembymeansofim-
plementingawholeplethoraofmodernizingincentivesandprojects.Inthis
particularcontext,theGAnti-CorruptionActionStrategyofthePolishCustoms
Service2010–2013+”constitutesanattempttodetect,operationalize,assess,
andmanagecorruptionrisksastheyaretypicaloftheCustomsServiceopera-
tionsanditsorganizationalfunctioning.1
Thismonographisconceptuallyandmethodologicallygroundedinthesur-
veyresearchconcerningcorruptionrisksintheCustomsServicethattookplace
infall2011andwhoseresultsweresubsequentlydeliveredinaformofsocio-
logicalreportinDecember2011(Burzyńskietal.,2011).Theargumentiscon-
ceptuallydividedintosevenchaptersaimingtodelineateapanoramicpicture
ofcorruptionriskswithreferencetotheirorganizational,culturalandagential
(personal)determinants.Likewise,boththecollecteddataandprovidedinter-
pretationsmaybeconsideredasanempiricalframeworkforimplementingac-
tionsandmodernizationschemesaddressedtostructural-organizationaland
agentialdimensionsoftheworkplaceenvironment.Inthisway,thepostulated
managerialsolutions(theconcludingchapterofthemonograph)couldbeper-
ceivedintermsofGlocal,”highlycontextualizedresolutionstoproblemsand
challengesofaninherentlyglobalscope.
Needlesstosay,themonographmaybeinscribedwithinabroaderscopeof
empiricalconsiderationsandtheoreticalreflectionsassociatedwiththedis-
courseofGriskstudies.”Althoughthedisciplinecanbeconsideredasanovelty
inthecontextofthePolishacademia,itrepresentsawell-knownandfirmlyin-
stitutionalizedresponsetorisk-relatedissuesworldwide.2Fromtheperspective
ofriskstudies,theaimofourresearchis,firstandforemost,toimprovetheor-
ganizationalresilienceoftheCustomsServicebymeansofpostulatingasetof
ready-madesolutionsandpostulatesdesignatingtheperimeterofgoodprac-
ticesassociatedwithcorruptionriskmanagement.
