Despitetheconsiderableamountofinterestinthephenomenonofforest
synanthropisationandinterestingresearchmaterialaboutthevegetationofthe
UpperVistulaValley,theareastudiedhasnotbeencoveredbythistypeof
studiestodate.Theearliest,mainlybotanical,studiesdatebacktothesecond
halfofthe20thcentury(ZAJąC1990a).Contemporarypublicationsconcerning
theflora,aswellasthevegetationofthearea(ŻArnOWIeC1986,1988,1996a,
1996b,1996c;ŻArnOWIeCetal.1991,1997,2010,2012;CAbAŁA1989b;ZAJąC
1990a,1990b,1992a,1992b;TOMA1995,1996;CZyLOKetal.1997;WILCZEK
etal.2005,2008,2011;WęGLArZ-WIeSZOŁek,WIKA2010;beTLeJAetal.2013),
oftenservetopopularisetheknowledgeaboutthemostvaluablepartsofthe
naturalenvironment(HerCZeketal.1995;GOrCZYCAetal.1998;ŻArnOWIeC,
HerCZek1999;LedWOŃetal.2004).However,nostudyhasbeenconducted
todatethatcomprehensivelyshowshowthesynanthropisationoftheforest
andscruboftheentiremesoregionhasbeensubjectedtostronganthropogenic
pressureforcenturies.Thisisthemainreasonwhythepresentedresearchhas
beenundertaken.Theaimofthestudywastoassesstheconservationstatusof
forestandscrubvegetation(naturalness,degreeoftransformation),including
theformsofdegenerationandtheparticipationofdifferentgroupsofindicator
species,whichallowedtheintensityofsynanthropisationtobeassessed.
