restrictedneithertothefamiliarnarrativeofthe“self-
representation”ofthetworegimes(withEastandWest
Berlinasfavoredexamples),nortoproxywars
inarchitecturalexportstothe“ThirdWorld.”Infact,
politicaldissensussurroundingsocialistideascontinued
toplayapartinthereimaginingofpostwarmodernism.
