ContrarytotheCzechRepublic,Germanyhasalwaysbeenconsidered

asaEurophilecountry,withoutEuroscepticparties(exceptforDieLinke).

However,withtheeurozonecrisis,thesituationevolvedandanewparty

emerged,theAlternativeforGermany(AfD).RyszardaFormuszewicz

proposesaninterestinganalysisofthisnewpoliticalplayer,showinghowthe

beginnerstatusofthepartyisreﬂectedinitsorganisationandinitsactivities

intheEP.

NiklasBolinconcentratesontheSwedishcase,andexamineswhy

theSwedishDemocratsarepartoftheEFDDgroup.Healsoexamines

theactivitiesoftherepresentativesofthispartyintheEP,especiallytheir

behaviourduringrollcallvotes,anddemonstratesthatthesupranational

levelremainssecondary.

ThearticlebyDr.JeffreyStevensonMureroffersaveryinsightfulanalysis

ofthecontroversialJobbikpartyinHungary.Hetakesﬁrstahistorical

perspective,inordertoinvestigatethedevelopmentofthefarrightinthe

countrysince1989,andtheriseofJobbiksince2003.Hethenshowshowthe

EPgiveslegitimacytothefarright,butalsoenablesthesepartiestodevelop

closertieswithlike-mindedpartiesacrossEurope.Intheﬁnalsection,he

reﬂectsonthecurrentsituationinHungary,especiallyonthethreatofthefar

righttodemocracy,giventhecontextofilliberalpoliticsunderOrbán.

RenaudThillayeandClaudiaChwaliszfocusonthemainwinnerof

theEuropeanelectionsinFrance,theFrontNational.Moreparticularly,the

authorsexaminetheevolutionoftheFNundertheleadershipofMarine

LePen.Theyshowthat,despitetheeffortsofthenewleadertopolishthe

party’sdiscourse,itisstillahardEuroscepticparty.Thereislittleevidence

thattheFN’sstanceonEuropehaschanged.Itsdiscoursehasbecomemore

professional,andstressesthealternativesofferedbytheparty,suchas

intergovernmentalprojects,butitsfundamentalrejectionoftheEUhasnot

beensoftened.

ThisissuealsocontainstwocomplementaryarticlesonPoland.Theﬁrst,

byKarolChwedczuk-SzulcandMateuszZaremba,dealswithrightwing

Euroscepticismand,moreparticularly,theCongressoftheNewRight.They

proposeaninterestinganalysisofthehistory,politicalideologyandevolution
