usedearlierbyvariousauthors.Intheirworkre-
gardingthewingbasearticulation(Ouvrardet
al.,2008),theauthorshavecharacterizedandil-
lustratedalltheelementsandstructuresallowing
forthemovementofwingsinpsyllids,aswellas
presentedthedorsalthoraxsclerites.
Inrecentyears,Drohojowskahastakenup
studiesofvariationinthemorphologyofthe
thoraxofpsyllids.Theresultsofthestudieshave
beenpublishedinthreeworks(Drohojowska
2009a,b,2013).Forthefirsttime,thethoraxof
maleandfemalespecimenshasbeencompared
(8speciesfromvariousfamiliesandgenera)and
itbecameclearthattheshapeandproportions
ofindividualthoraxpleuraaresimilarandthe
differencesonlyconcernsizes(Drohojowska,
2009b).Inherworkof2013,theauthorhas
studiedthethoraxofspeciesoftheCacopsylla
Ossiannilsson,1970genusclassifiedasthreesub-
genera,andindicatedthecharacterswhichmay
beusedintheirdiagnostics.
Intheintroductiontohismonographcon-
tainingdescriptionsandredescriptionsofover
3.500speciesofpsyllidsofChina,Li(2011)has
providedadescriptionofthethoraxbasedon
theCacopsyllachinensisYang,Li,1981species.
Despitethegreatnumberofanalyzedspecies,the
authordidnotincludethedescriptionordraw-
ingsofthedorsalandventralsidesofthethorax.
Inthepapersbasedonfossilmaterial,where
thePsylloideasuperfamilyisrelativelywellrep-
resented,thereislittleinformationregarding
thethoraxofpsyllids.ExceptforKlimaszewski
(1997),Ouvrardetal.(2010)andDrohojow-
ska(2011),nodescriptionsofthethoraxpartmay
befound.Similarly,littleinformationisprovided
intheworksregardingthemodernfaunaofpsyl-
lids.While,asfarasthefossilmaterialiscon-
cerned,theabovemaybeunderstoodduetothe
preservationconditionofspecimens,itshould
notcausedifficultiesincaseofmodernmaterial.
