Abstract
Thepaperpresentsthedescriptionanddocumentationofthethoraxstructurein
59speciesofpsyllids-representativesofallfamiliesandsubfamilies(withtheexcep-
tionofAtmetocraniinae,MetapsyllinaeandSymphorosinae)withinthePsylloidea
superfamilyinaccordancewiththeclassificationintroducedbyBurckhardtand
Ouvrard(2012).Thepaperalsoprovidesstructuralcharacteristicsofthatpartof
bodyintheLiadopsyllidaefossilfamilyregardedastheancestorsofmodernpsyllids
andtheAleyrodoideainsects,agroupregardedasasistergroupwithintheSternor-
rhynchasuborder.Bothgroupshavebeenappliedasoutgroups.
Basedonthepaleontologicalcriterionaswellascomparisonswithinandoutside
ofgroups,ananalysishasbeenconductedregardingthedirectionsofchangesofthe
elementsofthoraxstructuresincludingtheappendages.Thepolarizationofcharacters
hasalsobeendetermined.Thedeterminationofphylogeneticrelationsbasedonthe
morphologyofthethoraxanditsappendageshasbeenconductedbymeansofcladistic
analysis.Therelationsbetweentheanalyzedtaxahavebeenpresentedincladograms.
Thephylogeneticrelationsbetweenthetaxaofpsyllidshavebeenreviewedbasedon
theanalysisofthethoraxincludingtheappendagesincomparisonwithotherproposals
ofthisgroup’sphylogeny.Themonophylyoffivefamilieshasbeenconfirmed:Carsi-
daridae,Homotomidae,Psyllidae,PhacopteronidaeandTriozidae.Inthestructureof
thethoraxandtheappendages,nosynapomorphyconfirmingthemonophylyofthe
followingfamilieshasbeenestablished:Aphalaridae,CalophyidaeandLiviidae.The
characteristicsoffamiliesandsubfamilieshavebeencomplementedwithnewcharac-
tersidentifiedwithinthethorax.Basedontheabove,akeyhasbeencreatedforthe
identificationofpsyllidsfromindividualsubfamiliesoftheworldfaunaofpsyllids.
