IntheforegoingdiscussionVilamovian-specificprinciplesandpa-
rametersdeterminingdomainstructurehavebeencomparedtothose
characteristicofthesystemofEnglish.
Startingwiththeonsetparameters,Vilamovianpossessesboth
branchingandnon-branchingstructuresinwhichitissimilartoEng-
lish,aswellasIrish,Polish,andGerman.However,thedistributionof
branchingonsetswithinphonologicaldomainsisdiferentforallthese
systems.InVilamovian,suchstructurescanbefoundbothword-initial-
ly
,medially
,andfinally
.ThisfeaturemakesVilamoviansimilartoPolish
butdiferentfromEnglishwherenofinalbranchingonsetsareallowed.
ThesystemofEnglishseparatesthefinalobstruent-sonorantsequences
withsomevocalicposition.
Asforrhymestructures,wehaveseenthatVilamoviantolerates
bothbranchingandnon-branchingnucleiinwhichitissimilarto
English,German,andIrishbutdiferentfromPolishwhichlackslong
vowelsordiphthongs.Vilamovianrhymesmaybranchandtheal-
